Week 439 - FMCA Rally Indio, California - 01-18-2015
2015 FMCA Rally Indio CA "Out of this World"
"Hey guys, Mandy here. I was just thinking, it's 2015, which means
this is my 4th year traveling with the folks. Wow! To start the year
off, Mom and Dad said we're going to the FMCA rally. I think it's
something like SPCA, that sounds good. So, let's find out".
"This cloud over the San Jacinto Mountains
seemed to know the rally theme was
Out of this World. On
the way to the rally, we stayed a few days with Clint and Jackie. I
like them, they like me. Jackie calls me BooBoo and Clint let's me
cuddle up next to him. If I couldn't be with Mom and Dad, I would
want to live with them."
"The parking areas at the rally varied.
Some on concrete, some asphalt, some dirt, some nice grass and some
worn out grass like ours; bummer."
"Here's our house, behind the yellow flag. It looks cramped here."
"But actually, they had quite a bit of
room for each family. The balloons are a common sight in Indio."
"Dad took this pic from the roof. He wouldn't let me go up there
cause I might get hurt, but he showed it to me. These are some of
the 900 coaches that attended."
"Mom liked looking at the 100+ motorhomes
for sale. Some were new like this Newmar Dutch Star, nice!"
"This house has a J-couch. That would be great so me and Mom could
sit together. I like this little motorhome; just my size. Maybe we
could bring it along as a Toad car. The problem is, it costs more
today than the current value of the MotherShip."
"Yikes! This one looks like it is made of
Chocolate; that's bad for dogs. We all liked this one, very bright
and cheery."
"At night they gathered for great
entertainment. This red-head was the comic magician Dana Daniels
& Luigi (the parrot, not the lady volunteer.) He was very
funny. He didn't have to make me disappear. I couldn't go, something
about biting the old people!
"Another night, the motorhomers were entertained by
Jim Curry
& Band with a tribute to John Denver. While he didn't
sound exactly like John, his voice was equally impressive and
Denver's songs are always delightful."
"This tent and two other buildings had
hundreds of vendors selling everything. RV parts, services, cooking
ware, clothing, everything you didn't need."
1) Food vendors abound. 2) The tram would carry you around if you
didn't want to walk. 3) The daily ice cream socials were at the
amphitheater.
1) Local FMCA chapters camped together. 2)
The water truck was busy all day watering down the dusty roads. 3)
This sight was common: Electric scooters, walkers, golf carts, canes
and wobbly knees.
1) Vendors were ready to wash and wax 2)
repair your awnings, install new tires and much more. 3) Flags were
everywhere. These FMCA'ers are of a very patriotic group.
"The folks had dinner with the group
Coaches
for Christ. Again, I was not invited. No wonder, I found out
that FMCA stands for Family Motorhome Coach Association, nothing to
do with dogs. Hey! What am I, chopped liver?"
"Let's just wrap it up. Mom and Dad had a great time. Me? I got a
5-day nap. Next week they'll talk about their windshield, yippee!"
"Until next week, signing off"
