Week 393-394 - Tooth Ferry - 03-02-2014
Tooth Ferry to Algodones!
First, an annual recap of our adventures in the MotherShip. As you
can see we have really made a mess of the Southwest. Hopefully we
can venture again into the East and leave more trails over there.
Here are our paths for years 2006 through 2013. 94,652 miles, 386
weeks, 14 tires, one refrigerator and five windshields later, we are
still enjoying the "homeless" life.
But, we're not moving nearly as much. In fact It is March 2nd and we
are just taking our first trip this year away from California's
Central Coast.
The second most asked question we get is "How do you decide where
you will be tomorrow?". Good question. If you truly want to enjoy
traveling full time, then we suggest you never make any deadlines.
You just enjoy each day, each place and each person and move on when
you are lead to. However, sometimes you must make appointments as
is our case for this mini-trip. Ellen chipped a tooth and needed
the MotherShip to ferry her tooth to the dentist. As we learned
from our good friends Gordon and Karen, Algodones, Mexico is a good
place to go for inexpensive, but still reasonable quality dental
care. $200 for a crown!!!
So needed to head from Atascadero to Algodones (near Yuma,
Arizona). We laid out our general plan.
1. Leave Atascadero
2. Visit Cousin Judy in Nipomo.
3. Lunch at SmashBurger in Thousand Oaks.
4. Overnight at East Shore RV Park in San Dimas on Puddington Lake.
5. Park at Clint and Jackie's house in Rancho Mirage.
6. Drive with Jackie to Algodones for Ellen's crown impression.
7. Return to Clint and Jackies.
8. Drive a rental car or the MotherShip to Algodones for Ellen's
final crown.
9. Meet Melissa in Coachella Valley to pick up Mandy's friend Sam,
so Melissa can go to Europe!
10. Visit with Gordon and Karen at ORI - Outdoor Resorts Indio
11. Head to Hemet, California for a new web design job.
12. Travel back to Central Coast for more family time.
A total of about 14 days. So did it turn out as expected? It almost
never does. Tune in next week to find out!
Thanks for coming along, love, Pete, Ellen and Mandy
