Week 138 - From ZERO to 50 in 94 Million 608 Thousand Seconds - 04-05-2009
Southwest Welcomes,
From 0 to 50 in 94,608,000 seconds? We'll get to that later. This
week our travels took us from a great worship service at Lake Havasu
Calvary Chapel to another one at Calvary Baptist in Bishop,
California. In between the two we were blessed by two amazing RV parks.
These two parks could hardly be any different. The first, Davis Camp
Park, is a county park in Bullhead City, Arizona. They had a lot of
options but we chose dry camping about 20 feet from the River. Cost
$15, rating 3.5 out of 5. Normally dry camping will get a 2 rating
from us, but this location is fantastic.
The second park is Nevada Treasure RV Resort in Pahrump, Nevada. This
park has full hookups, 50 amps, water, sewer and cable TV. It is
normally $50, but we got the Passport America rate of $25 for the three
days we were there. We rate this park 4 out of 5.
Let's take look.
The dry camping sites let you park as close to the Colorado River as
you want. The water is only about one foot lower than your tires!
We don't win raffles or door prizes, but the Lord blesses us with great
RV sites. 1) We got the spot next to the bridge about 100 feet away
from our closest neighbor. 2) Across the bridge is Laughlin, Arizona. We rode our bikes there for shopping and cheap Casino goodies.
Here are the views from our site. You can't get any closer without a
boat.
1) Here are some other dry camping sites at Davis. 2) This is the full
hookup area; nice, but not next to the water.
Oh yeah, we do have a boat! Kayaking on a warm day was great and the
water refreshing. 1) It took 40 minutes and a lot of work to head
toward Davis Dam. The trip back was a great float of about 15
minutes. 2) The Riverside Casino riverboat is off in the distance. We
took this boat in 2006 and recommend it. A fun ride with great sights
and history of the river.
After enjoying the wetness of the Colorado, we are off to the arid
region of Pahrump, Nevada. Nevada Treasure RV Resort is just north of
Pahrump. It is listed as a KOA park, so we were hesitant about going
there. But the pictures online looked exactly like the ones we took.
(Soon it will not be associated with KOA). The lobby rivals many nice
hotels.
The outdoor pool area is very nice.
All the sites are landscaped. 1) Some have BBQ's and gazebos with
tables and chairs. 2) This section is great for RV club gatherings.
Electric, water, sewer, cable, concrete pads, brick patio, table,
chairs, gazebo and anytime trash pickup.
1) Each morning Ellen worked out in the fitness center. 2) Check out
these oak lockers!
1) The men and women each have an indoor spa, steam room and dry
sauna. 2) Or try your hand at their 6-lane bowling alley. The alley
is viewable from the very fine restaurant. Your chef Mark will take
your order by 2 pm and serve it in the dining room, outside or even
bring it to your site! We love you Mark and your fine meals.
Or take your fun outside with shuffle board, horseshoes, bocce ball and
a putting green. We talked with the manager Charles Cochran about
putting in a pickleball court. We would look forward to that.
Another view of the pool area with two pools, a spa, waterfalls and
outdoor eating area.
Okay, so what goes from 0 to 50 in 94 million 608 thousand seconds? We
